Film & Video Editor

"There is no Zweifel (...) in New York" (2015, dir: Claudia Syhre)

As a freelance film and video editor, I am passionate about the process of shaping and sharpening story arcs through editing and sound design, unveiling the complexity and depth of characters. With empathy and creativity, I love bringing out the nuances of the actors' performances and immersing the audience in the characters' journeys and emotions.

Proficient in AVID Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve Studio, FCPX and Premiere Pro, my references include documentaries (including co-editing the 53-minute award winning "Beauty Will Save The World", 2021) as well as scripted films (from action short to medium-length indie drama), in addition to mock trailers, music, concert and crowdfunding videos. What I value and enjoy most about filmmaking is that it is truly a team effort -

I look forward to an inspiring collaboration!

SELECTED STORYBOARDS FOR "STRAY" (WEBSERIES PITCH PACKAGE BY TANYA MARQUARDT, 2019)

As a visual artist, I am fascinated by the human body in movement, by the play of light and shadow, the expression of emotion and radical perspectives. Trained at TLC, Wellington, and MTM Animation School, Toronto, in Nicolaïdes' "Natural Way To Draw", I am well versed in human anatomy and dynamic figure drawing from both imagination and short/continuous poses, discovered a natural knack for practical 3D and gained experience as a teacher.

I especially love the moment when art and film meet and inspire each other - building new worlds together. To filmmakers, I offer concept art, storyboards, sculptures and props -

"I had the pleasure of working with her as a coach in The Go-To Editor Premium Coaching course ("Dramatic Editing") last year, and she stood out as passionate, insightful, and highly attuned to performance. From the outset, Claudia demonstrated a deep understanding of storytelling and empathy - something I believe to be critical for editors to possess (...)

She cut a truly accomplished and well-crafted version of a difficult film ("Pine Box"). What impressed me most was her ability to pull the very best performances from the material. Having seen all the dailies myself, I know firsthand that this was a challenge, yet she brought out the most natural, nuanced moments with precision and instinct. Her ability to elevate the raw footage is a testament to her sharp editorial eye and sensibilities. What I see in Claudia is that she possesses an unwavering dedication and passion for filmmaking and the craft of editing. Her enthusiasm is infectious (...)"

"Thank you, from the bottom, middle + top of my heart, for all your conscientious, thoughtful + artful contributions to EVARY. I couldn't have asked for a better editor & collaborator! You have such a talent in editing - your patience, attention to each moment, your deep gaze, your full picture view - it all combines to create something so special. You truly brought this piece somewhere new, somewhere I always hoped it could reach (...) You made me a better artist, asking me to explain, and to show up, each step off the way (...) I can't wait for the next one!"

Ulla Laidlaw, director of the fictional short film "Evary", 2024

"Working with Claudia was a great enrichment for my project. She brought the creativity needed for a not-so-easy documentary film. She worked reliably and with great attention to detail, and I was able to learn a lot from her about editing."

Jannik Büddig, director of the documentary film "Beauty Will Save The World", 2021

"Whenever I look back at the videos you edited I am always very impressed with the wonderful choices and camera movement you have woven together! It would be a great pleasure to work with you on something again."

Evan Gardner, artistic director of Opera Lab Berlin, 2020

"It was really a lovely experience working with you on the "Mindful Masturbation" project. I find that you made an amazing job out of the material I gave to you. Some of the ideas you had how to edit this film were absolutely brilliant. I love so much how the film came out. Have a feeling that this might not be our last project together. Thank you so much."

Moshe Weizman, director of the documentary short film "Mindful Masturbation - A Somatic Pathway to Self-Love", 2018

"Here's a small thank you for your courage and patience in accompanying the adventure "Stara Laubemia conquers New York" not only on film. We found the time with you very enjoyable and were all surprised by your subtle and sensitive way of working with the camera and with us (...) A thousand thanks from everyone!!!"
